Sveti Vlas(Saint Vlas) is located amphitheatrically along the Black seaside and in the foot of the eastern part of Balkan Mountains. Its location is close to Bourgas city – 40 km, to Nessebar - 8 km, to the resort complex Sunny Beach – 4 km and to the holiday village Elenite – 2 km.
Sveti Vlas was originally founded in the 2nd century as a Thracian settlement named Larissa. In the 14th century, it was named Sveti Vlas, meaning Sveti Vlas who was farmer, medical man and patron of salespersons. The name of the holy man was given to a monastery, which existed during the period between 14th-18th centuries and was subsequently set on fire by numerous sudden attacks of pirates.
