General information of the area:
The village is surrounded by deciduous forests. It is located in the picturesque Batovska Valley, which is the only gorge between Varna, the Black Sea and the Danube River. The relief is hilly-flat. The climate is temperate continental and is characterized by hot summers and cold winters with heavy snowfall. In the past the village was called Vlahlar.
The population of Dolishte is about 240 inhabitants, and several English families live in the village.
There is a lot of evidence that the territory on which today's village is located has been inhabited since the time of the Thracians. The Thracian golden treasure from Dolishte still has no analogue in the Bulgarian lands rich in Thracian finds. It was discovered by chance, during the widening of the road to the village in 1962, when a rather low burial mound was destroyed, in which a wealthy Thracian was buried.
Very good infrastructure has been built in Dolishte: post office, community center, grocery stores, cafe, tourist complex, town hall, health service, park, sports ground, Orthodox church, hunting lodge. The village is supplied with water and electricity. Regular bus transport connects the village with the city of Varna and the surrounding villages. In Dolishte there is cable TV, internet, telephone and coverage of all mobile operators. The beautiful nature and the intriguing relief offer excellent opportunities for recreation and tourism. The region has excellent prerequisites for the development of hunting, fishing, rural and eco-tourism. Local people are traditionally employed in agriculture. Many of the villagers travel daily to their jobs in Varna.
Next to the village are a hunting reserve and world-famous protected areas: "Baltata" / part of the reserve "Batova" / "Yalta", "Tuzla" and National Reserve "Kaliakra".
