The University Botanical Garden - Balchik was established in 1955 on the territory of the park in the former summer residence of the Romanian Queen Maria. Today, on a total area of 65 decares are located collections of plant species from around the world. One of the big attractions is the collection of large species of cacti and other succulents, presented in the open on an area of 1 decare. It is the second of its kind in Europe, after the one in Monaco.
