The house is near the smow town has had many grants over the last few years from the E.U; for which they have laid new roads and pavements, regenerated parks, school, mayors office, sports stadium, flower beds, high street and external apartment renovations, and many other projects, the town has just had gas lines fitted, to which I have the meter fitted for the house. The roads are new with new pavements and lampposts, it is very quiet with only occasional residential traffic, With large EU funding there has been a lot of development in residential business and infrastructure and will continue over the next year.
There is a large busy sunday market with a great atmosphere where you can buy pretty much everything at very low prices. Near the market in a nice park is the sports stadium, a new recreational facility has been built with an outside pool, bar and volleyball court and chalets, great for lounging and cooling off for yourself or your guests in those hot summer months. A train will take you to varna in under an hour on a new aircon train for about £1.50p and arrive near the beach, it also runs to Dobrich and Sofia. Opposite the train station on the on the hill sits a small family ski lift and slope which operates in the winter which is abut to be extended.
There is a hospital, fire station, bus station, large good school, a few recently renovated mini markets and cafe's. In the center there is a restaurant which does well, many people go just for a coffee and chat. There Is an information center in the mayors building(council office) where you can pay bills, there is a lot of modernisation going on, not just at the council level but also in the small business' and the residential housing, many houses are being renovated and the whole place is quite lovely.
The Garden
The garden has a lot going on but is very easy to manage, a great lawn to the front and rear with a grass path to the side, pergola's and stone paths, sun deck and nice places to sit in the sun or shade, gipsy cart, barrels, hanging baskets, wood shed, and much more, a rich and easy to manage creative garden . There is a lot of fruit, Apples blackberries raspberries strawberries plumbs mulberries and a pinot noir grapevine that hugs the back of the house, I make grape cubes for the freezer and have fresh grape juice all year around. nicely clipped trees, different types clematis, wisteria, climbing roses, lots of succulents and rock roses that need minimal upkeep and a small veggie patch. Probably the best estate agent in Bulgaria. As a recently married couple looking to give up the grind of 8-6 mon-fri rat-race lifestyle... but without enough money to actually do so at home in the UK. We have always been adventurous, but after watching the series ‘Ben Fogle: New Lives in the Wild’, the idea of just quitting our jobs and moving away to start something completely new, suddenly seemed very doable. We turned to the internet for answers and based on the budget we had and the lifestyle/climate we were looking for, Bulgaria seemed to be the place for us. So after hours of trawling through websites, and countless emails back and forth with various estate agents throughout Bulgaria, it quickly became apparent that there is a lot of choices out there and ‘viewing trip’ was in order to see it for ourselves. We booked some tickets and flew over to see how it could be possible to buy a whole house for less than your standard deposit back home. In order to view some of these properties, in the beginning, we were in talks with a number of different agents and even a lawyer!, but the only person who actually seemed to care about helping us find our dream home that was right for us (and not about taking our money), was a lady called Kiki from So after coming home, now with a better understanding of what your money can buy, the different things to look out for and the vastly different regions of the country, we asked Kiki to assist us with our search. With this newfound knowledge and her help, we quickly condensed a list of 30 potentials down to just 2, and then after Kiki did some investigation into the legal side of both the properties, we made our choice. When it comes to customer service, she helped us every step of the way, from suggesting houses that offered what we were looking for to guiding us through the legal process and completing the sale. She has consistently delivered on her promises and has always been just a phone call or message away - Which actually helped alleviate a lot of the possible anxiety linked to buying a house in another country… Not to mention choosing to do right in the middle of the Brexit negotiations. To be honest, the whole process has been a breeze with her help and I would certainly recommend her and to anyone who is looking to do the same. Now the sale is complete and the house is ours, we couldn’t be happier and plan to take the leap in the new year. Thank you for all your help Kiki Tia and Lee
