Bulgaria holds second position in accommodation growth during winter tourist season in EU
Recent data of the European Statistical Office reveal that Bulgaria holds the second position in the EU regarding the accommodation growth during the winter tourist season 2013 - 2014.By 14.6 % more accommodations were registered within the winter tourist season which amounts to 3.8 % million in total compared to the previous winter season when the sum was 3.3 million. About 40 % of the accommodations were booked by foreign citizens as their share has increased up to 0.5 points compared to the winter season previous year. As far as accommodations within the territory of the EU are concerned during the winter season 2013 – 2014, their number has increased up to 3 % as the most popular destinations are Spain, Italy and Austria. These were the places where the half of all the accommodations was registered.Most tourists prefer booking accommodations in guest houses instead of hotels.
