Since 2011 so far, the positive trend for the returning of the population to the villages remains without any change. Only 184 villages of total 5072 in Bulgaria have remained uninhabited.
At the same time, strong interest in rural properties is recently observed. The interest is mainly focused in purchasing rural homes within a radius of 25 km from the towns or cities.
The rural property market in the Bulgarian regions of Bourgas, Plovdiv, Blagoevgrad, Lovech and Veliko Turnovo is dynamic and the most demanded types of property are houses with land plots with areas up to 2000 sq.m at the prices to EUR 25 000.
More and more Bulgarian citizens return to Bulgaria and they are willing to renovate their rural properties or to invest in additional ones.
The rural properties on the Southern Black Sea Coast account on strong investment interest, predominantly on behalf of Russian citizens. Family houses and seaside apartments in close proximity to the beach are the most sought after homes. The prices of completed recently built properties range between 280 and 450 EUR/sq.m.
