One of the protected areas in Bulgaria is The Rila National Park. Rila mountains is famous with its magnificent forests, deep canyons, caves, large meadows and fields, variety of rocks, numerous lakes and waterfalls. These are just once of the attractions that you can see during your holiday in Bulgaria.The lakes in Rila Mountain are more than 200, some of them dating back from the Ice Age, many mineral water springs, providing excellent opportunities for spa and health treatments.
The Seven Rila Lakes comprise an extremely wonderous spot within the boundaries of Rila National Park. Many of its species are native to the area and are listed in the Red Data Book of Flora and Fauna which denotes them as endangered or rare.
Rila is the highest mountain in Bulgaria and on the whole Balkan Peninsula. The oldest name of the mountain is Dounkas, given to it by the Thracians and means a place with a lot of water. Rila occupies the prestigious 6th place in the Europen “classification”,preceded by: Caucausus( Mt.Elbrus-5642m), the Alps(Mt.Mont Blanc-4807m) and others. It is a central mountain for the peninsula and it is a main orographic and hydrographic junction. It is a composite part of the Rila- Rhodope massif and occupies its north-western end.
The key constructive element in the mountain is granite. There are also marble, crystalline schists and others here.
The climate of Rila is determined by its geographical situation, on the border between the continental and the transitional Mediterranean climate and the microclimate- by the altitude zones and by the soil and vegetation cover.
Rila mountain occupies the area of 2396 sq.km. area.
Eastern Rila is the highest and the most spacious of the four main parts and it comprises 37% of the total area of the mountain.
I first found this company on the internet and found the site really easy to understand and gave me alot of information! I arranged to go over for a viewing trip in November 2010 with a friend as my husband couldnt make it. We were pick up from sofia airport. over the next 5days we went from one end of Bulgaria to the other covering over 1600km (Bulgaria is Beautiful)Each night we stayed in a different hotel, which was checked every time to see if it was to our liking!They even took us to a chemist to get us something for our coughs!!! Dont think an English Estate agent would of done that!! We were looked after the WHOLE time and they answered all of my questions, some times over and over again!! They have helped with paperwork and accounts which have to be set up! NOTHING was tooo much trouble for these lovley,lovely people and im buying with confidence!
